Contracts

The University of Alabama encourages collaborations with industry and other external sponsors as they provide mutual benefits and are supportive of the University’s missions of research, instruction and public service. Industry agreements support our researchers and the education of our students and also contribute to the development of technologies that can be beneficial to society. A contract can be the appropriate agreement for an external sponsor to access fundamental science, specialized facilities and equipment, and a path for commercialization of new technology.

Contracts, along with grants and other sponsored agreements, are administered by the Office for Sponsored Programs to ensure conformance with university, agency, federal and state policies and regulations. Services provided include:

  • Negotiation, approval and execution (obtaining authorized signatures).
  • Coordination with other offices (Tech Transfer, Compliance, Contract & Grant Accounting, Office of Counsel, etc.) to facilitate review, processing, tracking and management.
  • Assistance for faculty and administrators in interpretation of obligations and applicable laws and regulations associated with federal and other contracts

For questions regarding contracts or other sponsored research agreements contact Lauren Wilson.
