D.C. Flights

The Office for Proposal Development coordinates trips to Washington, D.C. in an effort to meet with Federal Program Officers and other individuals representing potential research funding agencies in and around the D.C. area. Travel takes place on the third Tuesday during the following months

Faculty must have an appointment already scheduled in order to complete the application and secure a seat on the flight. We ask that appointments be scheduled between 12:00-3:00 EST.

This a great opportunity for UA faculty to have face-to-face interactions with program officers in an effort to build the necessary relationships to help foster future research projects. If one or two seats are available, we will accept faculty who are not necessarily seeking funding from an agency in D.C. but would instead benefit from a day of research. This would include places like the Library of Congress, the Folger Shakespeare Library, National Archives, Smithsonian, and other archives, museums or libraries.  Faculty who are interested in this opportunity should speak with their Associate Dean for Research.

The flight may be canceled or delayed at any time due to safety reasons, insufficient passenger load, or weather.

The aircraft typically used for this program is capable of providing accommodations for eight passengers, one of whom will always be a member of the OPD, or a designated representative.
