URCA 2022 will be held at the Bryant Conference Center, Monday, April 4, 2022.

December 1, 2021- February 28, 2022: URCA Submission window – Submit your proposal for undergraduate research and creative activity poster submissions and Submit your Creative Activity alternate presentation format for virtual judging here

Each individual or group submission has the option to choose virtual or in-person presentations. All submission categories will be judged against both virtual and in-person presentations

using the same judging criteria. You cannot change any information in your submission after it is complete.

If you choose virtual: Virtual pre-recorded presentations must be submitted to a designated folder in UABox and uploaded as a video file (mp4 preferred*) by March 19. These will be judged before the in-person event held at the Bryant Conference Center. *Consider using Zoom and Panopto style so you can share your screen and your image at the same time. See 2020’s virtual conference posters and video entries at the bottom of the page

-If you choose in-person: In-person presentation will be at the Bryant Conference Center beginning at 9 am and ending before 6 pm. The presentations will have assigned poster and presentation category session numbers. These will be emailed after the submission window closes. Only in-person presentation posters can be printed and are due March 19. In-person presentations will follow Covid-19 guidelines with smaller judging sessions and fewer people admitted.  Posters for in-person presentations should be emailed to Lisa Stonecipher before 5 pm on March 19 for free printing. Anything submitted after the date will cost $22 per poster paid by the individual submitting to UA Printing. All posters should be picked up at UA Printing front desk prior to the conference date. This year, we will have a Creative Activity with an alternative presentation format. If you are interested in submitting to the creative activity portion of the conference, you still need to submit an abstract of the creative work through the submission portal.  Each Creative Activity entry will be displayed around the Bryant Conference Center visually on the TVs, on stands, or submitted virtually with a pre-recorded presentation before the day of the event due March 19. If research is involved, we encourage a double submission to present a poster on the day of the conference, April 4. Please email kbissell@ua.edu for more information.

2020 – UA Students Virtually Highlight Research, Creativity for Annual Conference

Nearly 250 undergraduate students at The University of Alabama are highlighting their research and creative projects during the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference.

The 13th annual conference, hosted by UA’s Office for Undergraduate Research and the Office for Research and Economic Development, moved to an online format as the campus transitioned to remote instruction in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Students had an opportunity to submit their research posters and a 3-minute presentation of their research for inclusion in this year’s conference.
